'K' Line plans to use JGreeX green steel for new bulk carrier

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. has decided to employ JGreeX, the green-steel product manufactured by JFE Steel Corp., for the ultramax bulker to be built by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd and completed in 2026.

JGreeX is green steel that significantly reduces CO2 emissions in its manufacturing process. The ultramax bulker will be the world’s largest vessel using only green steel.

The world is now accelerating initiatives to realise a carbon neutral society. In accordance with the long-term environmental policy 'K' LINE Environmental Vision 2050: Blue Seas for the Future, 'K' LINE aims to help make the lives of people more affluent by promoting to support the low-carbon and carbon-free for both ourselves and society.
