Shakhtersk Coal Seaport loads 100th bulk carrier
The Shakhtersk Coal Seaport, which is part of the Eastern Mining Company, has loaded its 100th coal bulk carrier since the opening of the latest navigation season.
The vessel, MV GLORIEVER, recently delivered 63 000 t of coal on board, mined at the Solntsevo coal mine, to consumers in China.
During the 2020 season, the volume of coal products shipped by Panamax vessels amounted to almost 80% of the total shipped quantity.
Anatoly Balakin, executive director of UMPSh, commented that there has been annual growth in the number of coal shipments through the coal seaport of Shakhtersk, thanks to an increase in the port's capacity, as well as the implementation of a number of investment programs for the technical re-equipping of the company’s onshore and offshore facilities.
The planned total volume of materials loaded onto ships at the port in August 2020 will reportedly amount to more than 1.8 million t. Indeed, in just a month, the port of Shakhtersk plans to handle 28 vessels.
