National Navigation Co. (NNC) has announced that it has signed a contract to purchase a new dry bulk carrier with a capacity of 82 000 DWT to join the company’s fleet.
It was revealed that the European owner, Atlantska Plovidba, had offloaded a kamsarmax newbuilding with the aim for delivery in the first quarter of 2024. The dry bulk vessel, named Aplovrijenac, was one of four bulkers Atlantska Plovidba has on order in China. The Zagreb-listed company sold the Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry-built kamsarmax for US$37 million.
The taker of the ship, Cairo-based NNC, owns a fleet of 13 bulkers under the Egyptian flag and one containership. This is its first purchase in years.
