On 28 June, the very first of Erik Thun Group’s new dry cargo vessels, the next-generation lake vanern max, was launched at Scheepswerf Ferus Smit BV in Westerbroek, the Netherlands. The vessel was named Lidan, and the naming ceremony was performed by Benita Skisser.
Miss Benita Skisser is the partner of one of the company’s masters, Oscar Lancing who is a captain in the second generation of officers from the same family sailing on the company’s vessels. Benita and Oscar were accompanied at the podium by Oscar’s father Anders Lancing, a retired master with long experience within the Erik Thun Group.
Being a family-owned company, Erik Thun have always believed in the power of tradition, integrity, and forward-thinking. The lake vanern max is intended to represent the company’s dedication to long-term goals and to pushing for innovation. Lidan is not just another addition to the company’s fleet; the vessel represents a significant leap forward in maritime technology.
The m/v Lidan is scheduled for delivery in September 2024.
