Croatian bulker owner and operator Atlantska Plovidba has signed an agreement with Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry in China for the construction of two ultramaxes.

The Zagreb-listed outfit, the majority of which is owned by Zadar-based peer Tankerska Plovidba, has paid approximately US$65 million for the 53 500 DWT pair of bulkers designed to meet IMO Tier III and EEDI Phase 3 requirements.

Atlantska, which has been managing a fleet of 11 bulkers, will see its first ultramax newbuilds delivered in 2026.
