SOLIDS Dortmund prepares to welcome visitors

With digitally optimised processes into a more sustainable future

On 29 and 30 March 2023, the Messe Dortmund will open its doors for the joint appearance of SOLIDS, Recycling-Technik, and Pumps & Valves. The overarching key themes of this year's event – digitalisation, sustainability, and process optimisation – intertwine seamlessly. Well-founded expert lectures and selected theme routes inform the trade audience about current trends and solutions. The supporting programme of Recycling-Technik has a special highlight in store: a lecture panel on the Mantel Ordinance, which comes into force in 2023, will provide the industry with urgently needed information on the new legal situation.

Visitors benefit from the synergy effects of the three trade shows taking place in parallel. The common denominator: handling granules, powders, bulk solids, and liquids. Exhibitors will answer questions on all relevant topics – from processing and reprocessing to the return of raw materials to the cycle.

Circular economy becomes a must

“Against the background of increasing raw material scarcity, greater environmental impact and rising energy costs, the pressure on the industry remains high. The call for sustainable, more circular and energy-efficient products is getting louder, and companies are challenged to quickly lay the foundations for this,” emphasises Anna Lena Sandmann, Exhibition Manager Recycling-Technik, SOLIDS, and Pumps & Valves Dortmund from organiser Easyfairs Deutschland GmbH. “Decision-makers are looking for new opportunities. A visit to the trade show and direct dialogue with the exhibitors is certainly one of the most effective ways to meet their information needs.”

At SOLIDS Dortmund – trade show for granules, powders, and bulk solids technologies – exhibitors present the entire value chain of mechanical processing technology for fine- to coarse-grained materials. Everything revolves around how granules, powders and bulk materials can be processed, handled, stored, transported, and analysed easily and economically.

At the parallel Recycling-Technik Dortmund – trade show for recycling technologies – and the Pumps & Valves Dortmund – trade show for industrial pumps, valves, and processes – everything revolves around the world of process and recycling technology. Companies present technologies and solutions for the recycling and environmentally friendly disposal of waste products, and for the transport of industrial gases and liquids.

In four halls, companies, service providers and research institutions present their innovations and process engineering solutions for a consistent and sustainable recycling economy. Exhibitors include Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH, amixon GmbH, Barradas GmbH, DI MATTEO Förderanlagen GmbH & Co. KG, Ebro Armaturen Gebr. Bröer GmbH, Hecht Technologie GmbH, Herding Filtertechnik, LEWA Deutschland GmbH, Lutz Pumpen GmbH, SECOPTA analytics GmbH, Siemens AG, Spaleck GmbH & Co. KG, and Vautid GmbH.

Lectures on the pulse of time

In addition to the exhibition, the three technology shows will once again offer trade visitors a top-class supporting programme. In numerous lectures, experts from industry and research will shed light on current topics in the sectors. Partners such as the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences, the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, the Technische Universität Dortmund, Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Ruhr-OWL, RWTH Aachen University, WFZruhr e.V., as well as IND EX e.V. and many more, will ensure a comprehensive transfer of information on a scientific level.

Several renowned teaching and research institutes, among others, are involved in some of the top topics of the bulk solids industry. For example, the Technical University of East Westphalia is assisting the Food Panel, the Bergische Universität Wuppertal is looking after “Dust release during the handling of powders, granules and bulk solids”, and the Faculty of Bio and Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Dortmund is accompanying the “Innovative solutions for continuous solids process technology.”

In addition, competence partner Dr. Dirk Textor, raw materials manager at GRAF Holding GmbH, will ask in his panel whether material and chemical recycling are opponents or partners. At the building materials recycling panel, the topic of “Secondary building materials in structural and civil engineering” is at the top of the agenda, and Thomas Dimmers, Managing Director, Pump Consult Düsseldorf, will give a presentation on “Good planning and maintenance for efficient pump systems.”

ImpulsCenter stage looks beyond the horizon

New this year is the ImpulsCenter in Hall 5. The new lecture stage is aimed at trade visitors who are looking for new impulses and food for thought for their everyday work. In addition to top-class specialist lectures, the programme will also be enriched by keynote speakers from outside the sector, from the world of football or management consultancy. Topics such as leadership management or industry trends such as process optimisation, digitalisation, and sustainability will thus be given special attention on the two days of the show.

Among the key note speakers this year are two very exceptional speakers. In their lecture “YNWA – You'll never work all alone”, loosely based on the motto “You won't score any goals alone”, former professional footballer Erik Meijer and leadership expert Dr. Holger Schmitz will provide insights into their profession, and draw inspiring parallels between successful companies and professional football.

Themed routes and explosive highlights

Those who would like to get an overview on their own will find their way around the exhibition's planned theme routes. Along these, visitors will meet selected exhibitors and receive information on important issues. In addition to details on sustainability or process optimisation, the tours also offer valuable aspects on digitalisation or industrial fire and explosion protection. The latter will find its explosive climax on the outdoor area of the show. Here, REMBE® GmbH Safety + Control and IND EX® e.V. will be staging impressive live explosions on both days, providing an impressive demonstration of the risks that lurk in everyday industrial life.
