Bulk flour distribution by Abbey Logistics has started with leading British baker Hovis.
The contract sees Abbey providing a 24 hr/d bulk flour distribution service from Hovis’ flour mill in Wellingborough to bakery sites in the UK.
Hovis, one of the country’s most recognised brands, selected Abbey Logistics following a competitive tender process, where Abbey demonstrated the added value it could provide through its flexible and responsive distribution model, ability to invest in new equipment and its focus on data-driven continuous improvement.
Abbey’s new fleet of Mercedes Actros trucks also began work this week to support the contract and feature Mercedes’ second generation 12.8 l, straight-six engines offering fuel savings of around 3% compared to their already industry leading efficient predecessors. All trucks will be fitted with Microlise telematics to ensure our drivers are getting the maximum performance and economy from the vehicles.
