Dry Bulk,

At a gala dinner held at the Eskimofabriek in Ghent (Belgium) on 19 November, Fednav was presented with the distinguished IBJ Award for People Development.

The International Bulk Journal (IBJ) has been a trusted resource for the maritime dry bulk industry for 35 years and these awards draw attention to achievements in the maritime bulk industry, providing companies with a chance to highlight their initiatives.

As a first-time applicant to this category, Fednav – Canada’s largest ocean-going dry bulk shipowning and chartering group – is honoured to be recognised for its forward-thinking commitment for investing in its people.

According to IBJ: “Entrants for this award should show how they have improved the training of staff by identifying a need and implementing schemes. The measurable outcome of training and its contribution to business success should be demonstrated.”

Fednav has been spearheading a new culture journey for the past few years under the leadership of president and CEO, Paul Pathy. This transformation is a strategic edge for the company in which aligning the human element with its corporate strategy, leadership, and culture to achieve business excellence has become a key focus.

The company has been honouring and maintaining the values that have made it successful for 74 years, while fostering a high performance organisation. Fednav is continually evolving its culture, seeking new ways of meeting modern-day expectations. Fednav is transforming the way it leads and how it communicates and collaborates.

By concentrating on a philosophy of continuous improvement, by driving accountability and collaboration forward, by encouraging new ideas and fostering a sense of urgency to act on its mission, Fednav is currently undergoing an important change.

“We are proud of this recognition and the positive impact our collective efforts are having. This award confirms that we are on the right track and encourages each and every one of us to continue on the same path,” affirms Fednav’s Christine Mack, Senior Manager, People and Culture.

Fednav management is grateful to IBJ for hosting such an important industry event and the company thanks its partners for their longstanding support.
