ABP agribulk terminal shortlisted for IBJ award

Dry Bulk,

This week, shortlists for the International Bulk Journal (IBJ) awards were announced and ABP’s Immingham Bulk Park (IBP) has been selected as a potential winner under the category of Best Dry Bulk Port.

Able to offer customers an impressive 1.5 million ft2 of premium undercover storage, IBP is located at the UK’s largest port by tonnage on the East coast of the country, along the busiest trading estuary in England.

IBP handles any conceivable type of dry bulk cargo from bagged or loose fertilizer, pumice or soya. The site, which benefits from regular investment from the company, is continually improving and in peak production, is capable of bagging 3000 tpd of fertilizer – the only place in the country with that capability.

The awards, which will have been hosted by IBJ for the 10th year running, recognise the achievements of bulk-specific organisations and highlight their accomplishments over the past 12 months.

Immingham is up against ports based in Hamburg, Kokkola in Finland and even Abu Dhabi, which leads Port Manager for Grimsby and Immingham Mark Frith to believe the competition to be tight.

He says: “ABP’s Humber ports really do shine brightly in the ports industry. When Immingham receives recognition like this on a global stage, it shows our prominence within the sector of how truly pivotal we are to the nation.

“Our team is really looking forward to meeting other port operators and understanding more about their businesses. These ceremonies are also ideal opportunities where we can share best practice.”

Winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony, due to take place in Ghent this November.

Over the coming month, Immingham’s bulk park will be announcing exciting developments which will see the site benefit from additional business and new infrastructure.

The impressive site provides vital services for farms across the Humber region and beyond, helping to grow local produce, aid the nation’s farmers and ultimately feed families across the country.
