Australian foreign grain exports witness positive growth

Victoria, Australia, has seen an impressive year of growth regarding its grain exports with grain increasing in value by 26% and seeing and increase in volume from 8 011 000 t to 8 682 000 t.
Grain exports made up to 28% of total exports by industry value from Victoria for the period of 2022 - 2023. According to the Victorian Food and Fibre Export Performance Summary 2022-23, grains value against regular exports increased compared to the previous period of 2021 - 2022 which also saw a large, sustained increase in export value.
Most of the grain was exported to South and East Asian countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan and China; from China itself grain exports generated over AUS$815 million in income for Australia. This is on trend with other food and fibre export industries as China was by far the largest importer of Australia food and fibres.
In 2022-23 Victoria’s food and fibre exports reached record levels in value. according to the report, grain exports jumped due to high prices and favourable growing conditions, with wheat, oilseeds and barley representing around 84% of total grain exports.
