Wilhelmsen Ships Service has won the ‘Maritime Service Provider’ award at the International Maritime Awards 2019. The prestigious biennial awards received more than 200 nominations for its 2019 edition, with 12 industry partners shortlisted and awarded for their outstanding contributions to Singapore’s maritime industry.

Recognised for their outstanding contribution to the port’s ongoing development, Wilhelmsen's ships agency division took home the Maritime Service Provider award at the biennial award ceremony, organized by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Held in conjunction with the 14th Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Health, presented the award to Michael Buchanan, Ships Agency Director for Oceania and Singapore.

Buchanan said, “After relocating our Ships Agency HQ from Oslo to Singapore in 2017, we have further recognised the importance of the Port of Singapore to our business, both geographically and operationally. Working closely with MPA and various other active stakeholders, Singapore has become an important springboard for our continued advancement of the agency business, with projects such as our Agency by Air drone delivery trial just the beginning.”

The prestigious biennial awards received more than 200 nominations for its 2019 edition, with 12 industry partners shortlisted and awarded for their outstanding contributions to Maritime Singapore’s twin engines of growth – its hub port and international maritime centre.

This year’s recipients ranged from shipowners to maritime service providers, outstanding offshore and marine engineering companies to R&D and technology firms.
