Dry Bulk,

The Master of the Blue Planet Shipping-operated vessel, MV Evnia is still missing after slipping from a ladder whilst making checks of his ship on Monday evening (4 June).

At the time of the incident (around 19:55 local time), the ship was alongside a jetty at Chittagong Port in Bangladesh. The crew urgently responded following emergency procedures, but were unable to secure a rope to the Master who was caught in a tidal current.

Chittagong maritime authorities and the Bangladesh Navy launched a search and rescue operation on Monday night. This continued yesterday.

Blue Planet Shipping are in contact with their crew and are working closely with all local authorities. The company remains grateful for their help at this anxious time.

MV Evnia is carrying a cargo of steel and remains alongside at the port.

MV Evnia (IMO 9232163) is a 53806 DWT bulk carrier, built 2003 and is registered in Cyprus.
