New Chief Operating Officer for JAXPORT

JAXPORT has appointed Frederick P. Wong Jr. as Chief Operating Officer after a nationwide executive search. Wong will begin his new role on 5 February 2018.

Wong has more than 20 years of experience in all facets of port operations and since 2014 has been responsible for all cruise, cargo and security operations as Assistant Port Director at PortMiami. Prior to that, Wong held positions of increasing responsibility at PortMiami from Seaport Harbormaster to Seaport Operations Manager. He began his career at the port as Cruise Operations Superintendent in 1997.

Commenting on Wong’s selection, JAXPORT CEO, Eric Green, said: “JAXPORT stands to benefit greatly from Fred’s energy, enthusiasm and experience, which ranges from working through the deepening of the Miami harbor to ensuring the daily safety and security of a major seaport. He joins JAXPORT during a notable time in our history as we continue to grow our business and increase our contributions to the economic health of our city, state and nation.”

As Chief Operating Officer, Wong will oversee JAXPORT’s terminal operations, public safety and engineering departments. Among JAXPORT's major initiatives in 2018 are the deepening of the Jacksonville harbor which begins this month and construction of a new auto terminal already underway, part of a project to increase vehicle capacity by 25%.
