The ceremonial opening of the Sarzha multifunctional marine terminal took place at the Port of Kuryk, with the participation of Symbat Toretaev, the Akim of Karakiyansky District of Mangystau Region. This marked the commencement of operational activities for the Sarzha Cargo Terminal's general cargo operations. In September of this year, the terminal received its inaugural batch of cargo, which is scheduled to be shipped to the Port of Baku via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route in October.

Recently, the Middle Corridor, connecting China, Central Asian countries, and Europe through the Caspian, South Caucasus republics, and Turkey, has become a focal point of growth, attracting the attention of many nations.

For several years, the Kazakh development company SEMURG INVEST has been implementing the construction project of the Sarzha multifunctional marine terminal in the Kuryk port. The company has constructed railway access tracks, two berths, and a general cargo terminal. The entire project includes several terminals, such as a grain terminal, a general cargo terminal, a bulk cargo terminal, a universal terminal, and a transport and logistics complex.

As Nurzhan Marabayev, the general director of SEMURG INVEST, noted, the MMT Sarzha project is among the largest logistics infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan and holds great importance for the development of the entire transportation and logistics infrastructure of the Caspian region.

«We expect that the full implementation of the project by 2030 will increase the Middle Corridor's throughput capacity by 10 million tons per year», emphasized Nurzhan Marabayev.

Those present at the Sarzha terminal opening ceremony, including Rashad Dashdamirov, the head of the Baku International Trade Sea Port, Vahid Aliyev, advisor to the CEO of Baku International Sea Trade Port, Serik Akhmetov, general director of Port of Kuryk, also highlighted the significance and relevance of the project in light of changes in the geopolitical situation and transportation logistics hubs and wished success in their future endeavors.

According to Gaidar Adbikerimov, the Secretary-General of the International Association of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the newly opened terminal holds great importance not only for Kazakhstan's economy. The MMT Sarzha project is one of the few unique logistics connectors bridging the East and West.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays special attention to the development of the Trans-Caspian route. He emphasized that today, the Central Asian region is becoming a key link in global transportation, playing a crucial role as a continental bridge in the "North-South" and "East-West" directions.

On his recent official visit to Germany, the Head of State extended a warm invitation to German counterparts to engage actively in the advancement of the Trans-Caspian corridor and the growth of Aktau and Kuryk ports, in addition to collaborating on the manufacture of transport vessels and the establishment of logistics hubs.
