Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry shipbuilder has secured a contract for six 63 500 DWT bulk carriers with Singapore-based owner Pioneer Logistics.
Pioneer Logistics bulk carrier unit has commissioned six ultramaxes at Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry, China.
The order came after another Pioneer Tanker signed up for at least seven 18 500 DWT chemical carriers at Fujian Southeast Shipyard for US$33 million each and delivery in 2026.
Pioneer has been operating 11 dry bulk carriers, with nine supramax carriers, one capesize carrier, and one newcastlemax.
Estimations have calculated the sale at being roughly US$34 million for a singular ultramax newbuild in China, but the financial terms surrounding the company’s debut in the segment and the estimated delivery schedules for 63 500 DWT ships have not been divulged.
Presently, Hantong Ship Heavy Industry has secured 37 63 500 DWT bulk carrier orders. The first of the vessels will start delivery from the 4Q24.
