Fertlizer company Yara UK has extended their north-west import operations on another Associated British Ports (ABP) site, with the establishment of storage and bagging facilities at the Port of Garston.

Yara UK, who also operate at ABP’s Immingham, Swansea and Ayr ports, commenced operations at the Port of Garston this week when the company received its first 2000 t delivery to Garston from Norway.

ABP invested £900 000 into ensuring the facilities were ready for Yara’s arrival at the port.

Divisional Port Manager Carl Bevan said: “ABP and Yara UK have developed a strong working relationship, which is evident by their presence across our ports. We look forward to continuing that relationship here in Garston.”

“ABP has a committed focus to putting our customers first, and the team at Garston is working with Yara UK to ensure their operations are running smoothly as possible” he added.

Peter Smith, Commercial Director of Yara UK, said: "Yara UK Ltd works closely with ABP in several locations around the UK and is delighted to add Garston to our network of sites distributing our high quality fertilizers to local farmer customers.”

“Garston is ideally geographically placed to supply our important customers in the north-west of England and Wales,” he concluded.
