Cooper Specialised Handling, an expert in heavy lifting equipment and materials handling solutions, has been named Dealer of the Year by crane manufacturer Mantsinen.

The heavy lifting division of Cooper Handling Group scooped the accolade after emerging as Mantsinen’s most successful dealer globally since 2015.

Mia Mantsinen, Vice President of the Material Handling Machinery division of the Mantsinen Group, said: “We’re delighted to acknowledge Cooper Specialised Handling’s exceptional results, which have enabled us to achieve a real turnaround in the UK and reassert our credentials in one of our most important markets.”

“Having enjoyed a dominant position in the UK for more than seven years, we appreciate that re-establishing your business offering once you have a track record can be a bigger and more complex challenge than entering a new market, which makes Cooper’s achievement all the more impressive,” she added.

The award was presented to Cooper Specialised Handling at Mantsinen’s dealer conference, which was attended by 40 participants from 25 countries. The event, held at the crane manufacturer’s headquarters in Finland, provided a forum for dealers and Mantsinen staff to discuss product and market developments and the latest operational plans.

David Cooper, a Director at Cooper Specialised Handling, said: “It’s a great honour to be named as Mantsinen’s top dealer, an accolade that echoes our achievements between 2002 and 2006, when we were recognised as Konecranes’ most successful dealer globally.”

He continued: “Establishing Mantsinen’s high-quality, well-engineered products as a viable and cost-effective alternative to rope-based cranes, traditionally the default option in many heavy industry applications, ports and terminals, is a concept sell. The combination of precision and speed, which comes with faster cycle times, delivers a marked improvement in cargo handling capabilities as businesses benefit from greater productivity.”

Working closely with Associated British Ports (ABP), Cooper supplied five Mantsinen hydraulic cranes, representing a total investment of £6 million, to locations around the UK.  Mantsinen-based cargo handling solutions have also been developed for Belfast Harbour and NW Trading, a privately-owned shipping and logistics business, which is finalising the specification of its second machine having already put into service a Mantsinen 90M.

Cooper Specialised Handling was appointed sole importer and distributor for Mantsinen cranes in the UK and Republic of Ireland in 2012.
