Dry Bulk,
In order to better serve its customers and to be prepared for the future, Vigan is extending its manufacturing facility in Nivelles, with a major extension of its pre-assembly hall.
According to Vigan, a complete pre-assembly of all ship unloaders and shiploaders is essential to guarantee quality and to prepare the future commissioning of the equipment at the customer site. VIGAN has therefore confirmed its strategy of controlling the value chain from A to Z in its own facility by its own qualified and experienced workforce: engineering, manufacturing, pre-assembly and testing, erection and commissioning, after-sales support.
Grain operators are handling bigger vessels, up to post-panamax at higher capacities. VIGAN continues investing in R&D and manufacturing facilities to offer handling equipment in line with the market demand.
Today, all of the company’s activities take place on the same 10.000 m2 site in Nivelles, 30 km South of Brussels. Use of the same location enables easy exchange of information among all departments including sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality control and after-sales technical assistance.
The current assembly hall of 50 m x 20 m span will soon be extended by an additional hall of 70m x 30m span, with lifting capacity of up to 50 t.
In 2015, VIGAN installed 1000 solar panels. This new hall roof is giving space for an additional 1000 panels producing around 30% of the factory’s total need.
Works are due to begin in October 2017 and should end in May 2018.
