Konecranes is searching for one start-up in Slush to enter directly to finals in the Konecranes start-up programme, REACH. Slush is the world's leading start-up event, 4 – 5 December 2018, in Helsinki. It connects start-ups and technology developers with business executives, investors and media.

Material handling is rapidly becoming more and more digital. Leveraging emerging technologies requires focused talent, which is many times found from start-ups. Konecranes is interested in all technologies and solutions that help it serve its customers better. The most visible parts of the Konecranes start-up collaboration are Konecranes REACH programme for start-ups and partnership with Maria 01, the Nordic’s leading start-up hub.

Konecranes’ REACH programme is a path for start-ups to form a partnership with Konecranes. The programme starts with Konecranes calling applications for a specified business challenge. After scouting the applications, the best start-ups are selected to introduce their solutions to Konecranes business executives in the REACH programme’s finals, where on start-up is selected for a pilot and possibly to a commercial or R&D partnership. The ongoing Konecranes REACH programme focuses on its ports business applications and is scouting startups working with human machine interaction, digitalisation of ports or smart container logistics.

“Start-up and entrepreneurial activity are now accelerating in the maritime and logistics sector, and many of the leading technology companies of future are startups today. From the ongoing REACH programme, we will shortlist TOP 4 candidates. In Slush, our aim is to find one more relevant start-up and offer them a position in the top 5.“ says Jussi Eskelinen, Start-up Coordinator from the Konecranes Innovation Management team.

The Konecranes REACH programmes finals will be arranged on week 50. The selected finalist will start a pilot with Konecranes in the beginning of 2019.

Konecranes joins forces in Slush with Combient Foundry and five other industrial companies, Epiroc, KONE, SAAB, Scania and Stora Enso to form a common industrial stand.
