Aurizon Network notes the announcement by Adani Mining on 13 September 2018 proposing a narrow-gauge railway connecting to the existing Central Queensland Coal Network (CQCN) to service its Carmichael coal project.
There is a standard process under Queensland’s regulatory framework to manage third party requests for access to Aurizon Network’s CQCN and any proposed rail connections to this network.
Aurizon Network has a legal requirement under its access undertaking, which has been approved by the Queensland Competition Authority to:
- Consider all access and connection requests made to it and to initiate a process to assess these requests.
- Treat all access requests confidentially, therefore the company cannot comment on any discussions that may occur with any third party as part of an access application.
