Neptune Terminals launches major upgrade to coal water treatment system

Neptune Bulk Terminals are currently undertaking upgrades to the Coal Water Treatment System. Proposed upgrades to the system are:
- A new chemical building to support the use of the clarifier system. This building is also intended to contain electrical controls.
- One coagulation tank and three high-rate clarifiers to increase hydraulic treatment capacity.
- A dewatering system consisting of two thickeners, sludge equalisation tank and two centrifuges.
- A dewatering building to house two proposed centrifuges.
- Associated conveyors to take dewatered coal to the coal pile.
The project is commencing construction in 2024 with utility work and relocations to take place from August to November. Overall construction of the upgrades is expected to continue to June 2026.
