Dry Bulk,
Stackers and reclaimers play a crucial role in bulk material handling and stockpiling but come with challenges such as the need for precise machine coordination, managing material flow and pile geometry, and withstanding harsh weather and abrasive materials. As a result, TAKRAF Group, known for its expertise in high-capacity and complex bulk handling operations, continues to see strong demand for its custom-designed stockyard solutions and machinery tailored to specific client needs and site conditions.
TAKRAF operates globally, serving industries from mining and general industry to power generation and port handling, offering both complete integrated systems and individual machines.

Recent mining projects
Recent projects include a 1993 tph radial stacker for stockpiling crushed platinum ore, delivered in under eight months to Ivanplats’ Platreef Project in South Africa, and a comprehensive stockyard system for a Guinean iron ore complex. This system is part of a Rio Tinto contract for the Simandou complex, one of the world's largest unexploited high-grade iron ore deposits, featuring two stackers, two reclaimers, a complex conveyor system, and two wagon loading stations with buffer silos, all designed for scalability and future expansion.
Other mining projects include a 7200 tph bucket-wheel reclaimer for a South American customer and an 8 million tpy integrated crushing and washing plant for the Khondbond iron ore mine in India, which includes final stacking and transfer machines.

TAKRAF port handling equipment
TAKRAF replaced an existing stacker at a bulk terminal on Australia’s East Coast. The rail-mounted stacker, initially designed for 6300 tph capacity, is built to handle up to 10 700 m³ph (9600 tph) for future upgrades. Notable features include a 2 m wide boom conveyor and a tripper car for wider stockyard conveyor accommodation, with a 62 m long curved boom, one of the largest delivered.
In Bangladesh, TAKRAF supplied four portal scraper reclaimers and three rail-mounted grab ship unloaders for the Maitree super thermal power project. In Mexico, a 6000 tph rail-mounted stacker was replaced in under three days, thanks to TAKRAF’s technical expertise and efficient execution.

Projects in the power generation sector
TAKRAF provided four portal reclaimers for a Japanese multi-commodity power plant, some of the largest built. They feature a safety and anti-collision system to allow two reclaimers to operate on the same rail in the same warehouse. Each machine also has a platform to carry a small bulldozer for stockpile cleaning.

TAKRAF and the industrial sector
For a mega fertilizer plant in Nigeria, TAKRAF supplied a urea bulk handling system, building on the success of a previous project. This system handles urea from the granulation plant to storage and then to a truck loading station. Special design considerations were necessary to seal all conveyor galleries and transfer towers against moisture and environmental exposure. The portal scraper includes a ‘de-lumper’ to break storage-formed lumps.
Aftermarket support
As a leading full-service supplier of mining industry equipment, TAKRAF not only supports its own machines but also those from other OEMs, providing specialised maintenance services worldwide. Noteworthy are its refurbishments and upgrades of bulk material handling equipment like stackers and reclaimers. TAKRAF develops engineered solutions based on thorough assessments to extend machine lifetimes, upgrade to current standards, and/or increase capacity.
