Greek shipping owner Laskaridis Maritime has announced that it has expanded its kamsarmax newbuild series in China with six ships spread across two shipyards.
The dry bulk shipping arm of the Alimia Group returned to Hengli Shipbuilding for four 82 000 DWT vessels and signed up for two additional units at Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu shipyard.
Brokers have quoted between US$37 million and US$38 million for similar tonnage in China, however no price has been disclosed for Laskaridis’ scrubber-fitted newbuilds set to be delivered in 2026.
The company currently lists 26 bulkers, including 10 kamsarmax newbuilds delivering in the next two years, eight of which are from Hengli Shipbuilding.
