Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NCSP) Group has reported that its consolidated cargo turnover for 2M 2016 increased 2.3% y/y and reached 23.8 million t.
Liquid cargo volumes totalled 18.6 million t, bulk cargo amounted to 2.1 million t, general cargo comprised 2.2 million t and containers accounted for 0.9 million t.
Sultan Batov, CEO of PJSC NCSP, commented: “Group’s terminals deliver stable performance at 11.9 million tpm of cargo. Meanwhile in January 2016, we increased transhipment of key cargoes like oil products, grain, and ferrous metals by 3.4%, 38.8% and 16.2% respectively versus January 2016.”
Bulk cargo
Transhipment of bulk cargo in January-February 2016 increased by 504 000 t (31.4% y/y) and reached 2.109 million t, despite poor weather conditions.
Due to favourable market conditions, transhipment of grain increased by 269 000 t (30.9% y/y), and amounted to 1.14 million t for 2M 2016, compared to 871 000 t for the same period in 2015, when restrictive export duties on grain were introduced in February 2015.
Iron ore volumes in the reporting period increased by 241 000 t (117.4% y/y) and reached 446 000 t.
Volumes of chemical cargo and coal increased 5.1% and 21.9% y/y and amounted to 199 000 t and 284 000 t respectively.
Transhipment of sugar reduced materially due to low demand on expensive imported raw cane sugar and good domestic harvest of sugar beet.
General cargo
Transhipment of general cargo in 2M 2016 comprised 2.247 million t. Volumes of ferrous metals and pig iron increased by 63 000 t or 3.3% y/y and amounted to 1.959 million t. Volumes of non-ferrous metals increased 15.1% y/y to 182 000 t. Transhipment of timber, perishable and other cargo totalled 105 000 t.
